Services
From capture to catalogue, every stage carried out by our world-leading specialists.
End-to-end image production
Our service spans every step of the image production process: creative photography, retouching, colour correction, digital preparation, catalogue and ecommerce design, print optimisation and the restoration and digital archiving of historic imagery.
Each discipline is led by senior specialists with more than a decade working together as a seamless team.
A jewellery sale, an old master catalogue, a contemporary photography archive and a luxury seasonal campaign each call for different hands, different eyes and different care. We bring all of them to a single, consistent standard.
Our global photographers spend their careers in front of paintings, sculpture, watches, jewellery, antiquities and contemporary works. We treat each piece with the care and precision a conservator brings to an artefact and the eye a creative director brings to a campaign, and we move easily between the two.
Our studios have produced imagery for world-leading houses and our cameras have captured works by Jean-Michel Basquiat, Gustav Klimt, Frida Kahlo, Banksy and many others.
Our creative bases in London, New York and Hong Kong are equipped, staffed and colour-managed to the same exacting specification. Whether a jewellery house with a global rollout, an auction house with simultaneous sales or a gallery with a touring show, our client partners are guaranteed consistency between locations and across outputs.
Our photographers are senior specialists who have worked together for more than a decade. They are supported in real time by our retouching and colour correction team, so calibrated colour and exacting retouching are applied to every frame before delivery.
Photography captures the moment — retouching ensures that it is true. Our specialists work frame-by-frame to remove the noise of the studio like dust, glare, sensor artefacts or set marks while maintaining the utmost integrity of the object itself. The result are images that the trade, the bidder and the curator can rely on.
Colour fidelity is at the heart of what we do. Every workstation across our London, New York, Hong Kong and South Asia operations is colour-managed to the same standard, and every frame is matched against the object itself wherever possible. From the green of an emerald to the patina on a bronze, our specialists deliver global excellence and accuracy in colour.
Our continuous twenty-four-hour workflow means a sale, collection or campaign can be retouched and colour-matched at one studio while another captures the next round of imagery. Every frame is reviewed by a senior colourist before release.
A finished image is rarely a single file. Catalogues, microsites, online sale platforms, partner marketing and social channels each have their own crop ratios, colour profiles, resolution requirements and file formats. Our digital preparation team makes sure each version is built to specification, not approximated.
Digital preparation sits inside the same calibrated pipeline as our photography and retouching. Files move through colour-managed workstations across our global studios and arrive in our clients' systems ready to use. There is no last-minute reformatting and no version drift.
We are natively able to work to the specifications of ecommerce platforms, gallery management systems and luxury marketplaces. Where partners have custom requirements, we map and document those once and apply them automatically thereafter.
A catalogue is not simply a brochure, and an online sales page is not simply a product listing. At their best, both are visual frameworks that let the piece shine and motivate customers to buy. Our integrated design team works to the core principle that every page is built around what is being shown.
We design for clients whose work has been the subject of scholarship for centuries, and for brands whose names have stood for craftsmanship for generations. Restraint is the default setting, with creative boldness layered in where it serves the work. We work to our clients' brand guidelines and advise on evolutions of these only as required.
Because our design team sits alongside our photography, retouching and print specialists, layouts are built with the realities of paper, screen and platform already accounted for. Files arrive at press or platform ready, with no surprises in colour, crop or resolution.
A great image on screen does not guarantee a great image on paper. Paper stock, ink set, screen ruling and press calibration all change how an image appears in its audience's hands. Our print optimisation specialists prepare every file with its destination press in mind.
We work directly with our clients' chosen print houses, and hold long-standing relationships with printers across Europe, North America and Asia. Files are delivered with the exact profiles, separations and proof references the press requires. Where useful, our specialists attend press passes to sign off colour in person.
Because all of our retouching, colour and print preparation run on calibrated workstations across London, New York, Hong Kong and South Asia, a sale or campaign printed in multiple cities reads as a single body of work.
Archives carry decades, sometimes centuries, of accumulated wear — from faded prints and scratched negatives to foxed manuscripts and ink-bled letters. Restoring and digitising requires patience and knowledge accumulated over many years of specialist learning. Our experts restore every plate, page or image with unrivalled care and skill.
Where required, our archival imaging is prepared to the published standards of museum, library and gallery preservation programmes. Where clients are setting their own standards, we help define and document them.
Because much of what we work on will be referenced for decades, files are produced with that horizon in mind: properly named, properly catalogued and in future-facing formats designed to survive successive systems.
BLOK has produced more than three million precision images for the world's most demanding clients. We absorb overspill for major auction houses, deliver against immovable sale dates, and handle unreleased collections with the discretion they require.
Our team of over 100 senior specialists have worked together for more than a decade. They operate across every discipline, photography, retouching, colour science, digital preparation, design and print, delivering a single, consistent standard regardless of the project scale, sector or deadline.
Our creative bases in London, New York and Hong Kong, alongside our specialist colour hub in South Asia, operate as a single high-performance unit. The result is a continuous twenty-four-hour workflow that scales without thinning the work.
